Golden Country Loaf
Delicious Bread. The ratio used of 2 parts whole wheat and 1 part unbleached flour gives this loaf a lighter texture but still has a good amount of fiber from the white wheat. These directions are for a bread machine. Can also make by hand if desired.
2 large eggs
3/4 c. warm water
2 T. avocado oil or any cooking oil
3 T. honey
2 c. golden** whole wheat flour
1 c. unbleached flour
2 to 3 T. dry milk powder
1 and 1/4 tsp. sea salt
1 T. dry yeast
Place in bread machine in order given. Regular setting, medium crust.
[if you do not have dry milk powder, omit that and the water and use 3/4 c. room temperature milk]
**what is golden whole wheat flour? It is white wheat flour.
White or golden wheat: this wheat has a bit lighter flavor, the kernels are a tad larger than red wheat.. White wheat bread will naturally raise higher than red.
If you put white wheat next to red wheat, the white has a golden hue and the red has a bronze hue.
Red or bronze wheat: a denser wheat with a bit stronger flavor and smaller kernel. Thus when making bread, the loaf will not raise as high as white wheat bread. Although you can add wheat gluten flour to help lift it.
