Survival Stew
Not only wise to have simple ingredients stored ahead for you/your family, but to be able to help neighbors and others also....
1/2 c. white rice*
1/2 c. green lentils: put in hot water, let soak for 3 hours.
2 c. water
3 T. dried onions
1 T. dried garlic
Bring to a rolling boil, reduce to medium low, cover and cook 14 minutes. Then keep covered but turn off heat, let sit covered 5 minutes.
*Note: this is a storage recipe and I strongly suggest you make it/try. For use in daily meals, we use brown rice, we do not soak the lentils, and cook it together for about 35 minutes....then add veggies such as cooked carrots, cooked chopped kale or spinach..
